1The service

Kaptio creates captions for your videos using speech recognition, lets you translate, style, animate and edit them, and export your video with the captions burned in. It also includes a video editor with tracks, audio extraction, titles, stickers, transitions and speed changes. Editing and exporting happen on your phone; creating and translating captions uses our servers, as explained in the Privacy Policy.

2Your account

You need a Google account to use Kaptio, and you must be old enough to use online services in your country without parental consent (and at least 13). You're responsible for what happens in your account and for keeping your device and Google account secure. You can only have the accounts that Google Sign-In gives you; creating accounts to get around limits isn't allowed.

3Free use

You can caption short videos for free after watching a short ad. The maximum length of free videos, the number of free videos per day and the languages available are shown in the app and may change over time. We may adjust or end the free tier; a subscription you already pay for isn't affected until it renews.

4Subscriptions

• Paid plans are monthly subscriptions. Each one gives you a number of hours of video every month: Starter, 5 hours for €4.99; Studio, 10 hours for €7.49; Pro, 30 hours for €17.49 (VAT included; Google Play shows the price in your currency). The current price is always shown before you subscribe, and a price change never applies to a subscription you already have without telling you first.
• In the Android app, subscriptions are billed by Google Play under its own terms. On the web, they are billed by card through Stripe. You manage each one where you bought it (Google Play, or Settings → Subscription on the web).
• Your subscription renews automatically every month until you cancel it. You can cancel anytime: you keep your plan until the end of the month you already paid for, and it won't renew.
• Each month's hours are used according to the length of the videos you caption. Hours you don't use don't carry over to the next month. When a subscription ends, its remaining hours are removed.
• Upgrading to a bigger plan takes effect immediately: you only pay the price difference for the days left in the month, you keep the hours you had left, and you get the extra hours of the new plan in the same proportion. From the next renewal you get the new plan in full. Switching to a smaller plan takes effect at your next renewal.
• If a renewal payment fails, your plan pauses (without new hours) until the payment goes through; if it never does, the subscription ends.
• Video time has no cash value, can't be transferred to another account or exchanged for money, and is lost if you delete your account. Deleting your account stops your subscription from renewing.
• Refunds are handled by Google Play (Android) or by us (web) under their refund policies and any rights you have under the law of your country. If a payment is refunded or disputed, the subscription it paid for may end immediately.
• Promotional codes can be redeemed once per account, before they expire, and only for what they say.

5Your content

You keep all rights to your videos, audio, captions and exports. You give us only the permission we need to process the audio and caption text to provide the service, as described in the Privacy Policy. You're responsible for your content and for having the rights to the videos you caption and share.

6Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use Kaptio for content that is illegal or that infringes other people's rights, including copyright and privacy;
• get around limits, ads, subscriptions or codes, for example with fake purchases, multiple accounts, scripts or modified versions of the app;
• interfere with our servers, use them outside the app, or try to access data that isn't yours;
• copy, resell or reverse engineer the app or the service, except where the law expressly allows it.

7Automatic captions

Captions and translations are produced automatically by AI and can contain mistakes, especially with noise, music, accents or names. Please review them before publishing. You're responsible for the final captions you export and share.

8Our app

The Kaptio app, its name, logo, design, templates and code belong to Kaptio or its licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on your devices according to these terms. Videos you export with Kaptio don't carry a watermark and you can use them freely, including commercially.

9Suspension and deletion

You can stop using Kaptio and delete your account at any time from Your data & account or in the app. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, especially in cases of fraud or abuse, and we'll tell you the reason in the app. We may also change or discontinue features; if we ever shut down the paid service, we'll give reasonable notice.

10Disclaimers and liability

We work hard to keep Kaptio working well, but it is provided "as is" and "as available", without guarantees that it will always be available, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose. To the extent permitted by law, Kaptio isn't liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or content, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it. Back up important videos. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by law.

11Changes

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app before they apply. If you keep using Kaptio after that, you accept the new terms; if you don't agree, you can stop using it and delete your account.

12Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live. For any question, write to [email protected].
